The Mile High Estate Planning Process
Completing your Estate Plan with Mile High Estate Planning is simple and straightforward. Here is what you can expect if you decide to work with us.
Contact our firm to schedule a no cost and no obligations initial consult. Your estate planning process begins with a simple phone call or email to let us know when you would like to meet with us.
YOUR INTAKE FORM
After you contact us, we will email you an intake form (also available under the Resources tab of our website). Fill this form out as best as possible and bring it to the initial consult. You can also email it to us ahead of time if you would like us to review it. The information provided will help us understand your goals, family situation, as well as how best to deal with your assets.
Attend your free initial consult. During your initial consult, your attorney will discuss your family situation, assets, and goals. You will receive information about which estate planning tools best match your needs, and you will be able to ask questions and discuss your specific concerns. Our estate planning services are offered at a flat-fee price based on the services agreed to, and cover any office expenses and recording costs incurred at that time.
REVIEW YOUR DOCUMENTS
About two weeks after your initial consult, you will receive electronic draft versions of your documents to review (expedited delivery available upon request). You will be able to read and review your documents at your leisure and in the comfort of your home. At this time you will also be able to contact us with any questions that may come up during your review or any changes you would like to make.
Your signing ceremony generally takes place about a week after you review the documents. This meeting typically takes 30-45 minutes in which we review your documents, and then you sign your documents before a notary and witnesses. The signing ceremony can be scheduled at our offices or at your home. Once your documents are signed and notarized, they are valid and binding. At the end of the signing, we keep your documents in order to scan the signed documents.
RECEIVE YOUR ESTATE PLANNING DOCUMENTS
Within 30 days of signing, you can expect your estate planning documents to arrive in the mail. If any deeds for real property were prepared, these will arrive separately and may take longer since they need to be recorded by the Clerk and Recorder of the given county.
STAY IN TOUCH WITH ANY QUESTIONS
Generally, after you receive your documents in the mail, our engagement is concluded. But you are encouraged to continue to use our firm to answer questions regarding funding or other aspects of your Estate Plan. Should a service require an additional fee we will let you know ahead of time and in writing. Mile High Estate Planning does not charge any yearly fees for standard Estate Plans. However, your peace of mind will continue to pay dividends for years to come.
